Property Information

  •

Gorgeous, historical house harmoniously blending contemporary and antique – providing mod cons and old splendour. The gardens are established yet refreshing, the village is picturesque and the wonders of the city of Bath are minutes away.

Nestling amidst Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill is the gorgeous 17th century village of Batheaston. North End is an exclusive village comprising a collection of gorgeous sandstone dwellings, the river Avon, and the Kennet Avon canal which runs directly directly into Bath, the UK’s finest Regency and formerly Roman city.

10 minutes from Junction 18 of the M4 from London and 7-10 minutes by car/cab or 15 minutes by bus directly in to the centre of Bath. One can park in Manvers Street car park (payment is accepted by credit or debit card) where there are always parking spaces and which is short stroll to Bath Abbey and the city’s national rail and bus links.  There is also a delightful walk or cycle along the towpath of the canal into Bath or choose to take the boat into Bath along the river.

The local village of Batheaston has an excellent organic café and restaurant, Gather, a Boots pharmacy, a local pub and convenience store and a petrol station, and a medical centre

DETAILS ABOUT THE STYLISH STONE HOUSE

The Stone House was built in 1600 but has been brought up to contemporary standards  with a modern kitchen and 2 bathrooms, one en suite, although there are many details which show the house’s 400 years! There is an open plan living room with a log fire and we provide a basket of logs and kindling for our guests. On the 1st floor, there is one large room with twin beds adjacent to the large bathroom.

On the top floor, there is one king room with en suite shower and wc and one double bedroom.

All the bedroom windows have far reaching views across stunning countryside. Finally, there is a mezzanine room which we call the Zen Room as it is sparsely furnished and has wonderful light rays entering from its skylight windows.

The house has been styled using some stunning and valuable antique furnishings along side leading edge, modern sofa, chairs and other accessories. The walls are filled with original artworks ranging from creative art photography, to antique paintings and prints.

Outside, we have a paved patio area, table and chairs for alfresco dining, a turfed area for sunbathing and lounging and an organic vegetable garden with beetroot, tomatoes, rocket and many other salad leaves, free for our guests’.

There is a shed for your bicycles if you bring them!

    PARKING/GETTING AROUND:

You can park on the street, right outside the house (easiest) or open the gate and park on the small driveway, if necessary. Buses, boats and cabs are on hand to take you where you want to go

Thank you for a beautiful home to stay in. We so much appreciated all the thoughtful additions you provided to make our stay so enjoyable. The walk to Solsbury hill is a treat with stunning views. The bus service to bath from the end of the road is very straightforward and frequent. We also found the long stay car park on Charlotte Street gave us lots of time to explore the City, as well as being central.

We have relaxed in your garden and sat around the table outside in the sunshine enjoying the plants.

We are fascinated by the range of artwork and the objects d’art .

Thank you for also being such charming and helpful hosts.

What a great way to spend some time in the country! We met our son here for a holiday and the stone house didn’t disappoint. Cosy on rainy days, birds singing and flowers blooming, sitting in the garden on sunny days. Kitchen for more than one to be in. Quiet nights, everything we were looking for.

Thank you! What a great pad this has been for a two-week break from reality. The sun shone and we had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage. Two great dog walks on the doorstep. We did pinch a couple of courgettes from the veg patch- hope that was ok? They just looked so good. We’ll be back for sure!

Couple from Bournemouth and Dougal the dog.

After a wonderful three weeks here- we sadly leave onto our next adventure. Have loved every minute of being here, felt like home- loved waking up to hear the birds tweeting every morning. Marek and Bryan have all been wonderful if needed. The house is spotless, tastefully decorated and the village is peaceful.

Thank you for everything
