The Circus in Bath is unique.   It is one of  the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the country and listed grade 1.  The Circus is a perfect circle of tall stone houses decorated with stone acorns around the parapets and carved symbolic friezes around the facades.   John Wood was responsible for the design and construction between 1754 and 1767.

This home is a maisonette occupying the two top floors of one of these houses, with views over the rest of the Circus, the splendid mature plane trees in the middle, and the northern Lansdown slopes swathed as they are with more terraces of Georgian houses.   Further splendid examples of the attractive  Georgian architecture are but two minutes walk away, such as the Royal Crescent, Queens Square and the Assembly Rooms.   This home represents Georgian Bath at its best.

A communal hallway and carpeted staircase lead to the maisonette front door on the second floor.   Inside is a small hall off which are the lounge, kitchen and stairs to the upper floor.  The large airy lounge is tastefully and comfortably furnished and decorated, and facing south, gets much light.   There is a decorative (only) fireplace, comfortable sofas, side tables, lamps and pictures.   The dining kitchen is spacious with units along one wall housing the appliances; another large floor-to-ceiling built-in cupboard, and dining table and chairs.   A mezzanine room houses the washing machine and dryer for exclusive use of visitors to this home.

Upstairs is a top-lit landing, off which open the bedrooms. The front bedroom is a very large room with double bed and single bed, built in cupboards, and en-suite shower room.   The back bedroom has twin beds, a built in cupboard and dressing table and is next door to a family sized bathroom with bath, shower-in-bath, basin, w.c. and airing cupboard.

Previous visitors have been delighted with the location and spaciousness of this home.   The owners care for their home and run it with an efficient housekeeper.
